Volunteer Action celebrated it’s 21st year of operation in October with a lunch time party for 100+ volunteers and an evening reception hosted and sponsored by Oundle School. Guests of honour at the lunch were John and Margaret Melhuish who have been driving for VA for 20 years. Chair, Val Chesser, was pleased to present them with certificates and gifts in recognition of their outstanding commitment.

A lovely spread was provided, including a magnificent birthday cake made by VA volunteer Maureen Weston. In the evening we were joined by Mr. David Laing, The Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire who spoke about the valuable contribution volunteers make. Also present were District Councillor Rupert Reichold and Mayor Barrowcliffe of Thrapston among many other supporters of Volunteer Action.

Oundle School, who have been outstanding supporters of Volunteer Action for many years, hosted the evening event and we were delighted to receive a cheque from them on the night. This was for money raised by pupils in a commercial exercise selling playing cards and raised over £1000 for VA.
