Volunteering with us
Driving for our Community Car Scheme
Have you got a little time on your hands? Do you live in one of the villages we serve?
Driving for Volunteer Action is rewarding and enjoyable.
Drive as often or as little as you like. You can sign up to drive only on specific days and/or at specific times. You tell us, each week, if and when you are free to drive – we do the rest.
A mileage allowance of 45p per mile is paid.

Becoming a Befriender
Are you a friendly, chatty person, who is good in a one-to-one situation?
Would you like to get to know an elderly person, keeping them company with a regular visit or a regular phone call?
We operate two Befriending Schemes for which you can volunteer:
A Face-to-Face Befriending Scheme
and a
Friend-on-the-Phone Telephone Befriending Scheme
We carry out assessments to link volunteers with suitable partners, with similar interests and outlooks to ensure that our partnerships are as successful as possible.
Travel expenses can be claimed if you need to drive to make your visits. We also try to pair a volunteer up with a local person if possible, when a volunteer does not drive.
All our volunteering vacancies require a Disclosure and Barring check (the old CRB)
