What is the Volunteer Action Community Car Scheme?
It is a door-to-door Car Service for people with no reasonable means of transport for the following:

Collecting Prescriptions

Hospital – Outpatients
Hospital – Inpatients
Doctor
Hospital or Nursing Home visiting

Wansford Surgery patients can also use our volunteer based transport service to and from Wansford Surgery Appointments only.
What Does It Cost?
Annual membership of the Transport Scheme is £24 or a temporary membership fee for 6 months at £12 – (payable upon registration) . This will allow you access to the Charity run transport scheme.
Members are invoiced each month in arrears. There is a £1 booking fee per completed journey.
The minimum charge for a journey is £4.00 (including the booking fee). You will then be invoiced for the cost of the journey which is based on approximately 45p per mile whilst you are in the car. Volunteer Action pass your mileage payment (45p per mile) directly onto the Volunteer who drives you.
As a charity, we subsidize these miles through our fundraising efforts – we pay the volunteer driver 45p per mile to get them to your home – thus keeping the cost as low as possible. We welcome donations from passengers to help us with the costs incurred to keep this service running for the community.

- We are open for bookings Monday to Friday – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m
- Please give at least 3 working days notice, but the more notice, the better.
- For example, call on a Monday to book on a Thursday.
- Always call us for medical bookings, however short notice.
