Lottery Grant for Volunteer Training.
Volunteer Action has been awarded £3,581.00 by the Big Lottery Fund, to recruit and train volunteers. The manager of Volunteer Action, Carol Underwood says: ‘Recruitment and training of volunteers is essential to ensure continuation of services in the local area. Although we have a large number of volunteers, demand for our service continues to grow, so recruitment is vital. The grant will help us meet the costs of a focused recruitment and training drive for the next 12 months’.
‘Our highly valued volunteers have many and varied skills. We would like to build on these to ensure we continue to deliver high quality services. Training enables personal development and safety awareness and helps our volunteers to make informed decisions. We are so happy to have been awarded this grant by The Big Lottery Fund’.
Last year our volunteers donated over 14,500 hours of their time delivering valued services to the local community by providing;
- Community Transport – essential for medical appointments, access to social activities and shopping etc,
- A Befriending Service – supporting individuals who may otherwise feel isolated.
