Volunteer Action is pleased to have been able to help the community during the Coronavirus pandemic.  We have received many kind messages of thanks, but this one is particularly lovely (all personal details removed, of course) …

 Dear Chair of Trustees

On behalf of all Oundle Volunteer Action customers, I am writing to thank you and the VA staff for their help in shopping for groceries, and collecting and delivering prescriptions, during the current Coronavirus crisis.

I am aware that similar organisations in other areas of the country have completely shut down their services during the crisis, whereas Oundle VA has moved up a gear and initiated a shopping service for vulnerable Oundle residents.

Oundle VA carries out these services for my mother, my wife and me.  We are all prior VA users and both my mother (who is in her nineties) and I are highly vulnerable for medical reasons.

[Thanks] to you personally, and Oundle VA as an organisation for all you do for us in normal times, and now.  We are truly lucky to have you on our doorstep.  We are all most impressed by how proactive [VA] has been in reacting to the challenges of Coronavirus.

Please convey our gratitude to [all] members of the VA office staff for their personable and efficient organisation of the collection and delivery schedule.

Finally, please pass on our thanks to [the volunteer shoppers] and also to those volunteer drivers who have delivered shopping and prescriptions to us.  They are too many to mention individually in this letter, but […] please take this letter as our interim heartfelt thanks for all that VA does, not only for us but also for other vulnerable people in the area.

Yours sincerely,

[A grateful VA member]
